Palliative care is the active total care of patients whose disease is not responsive to curative treatment.The goal of palliative care is achievement of the best possible quality of life for patients and their families.

  • Mainly cancer patients,bed ridden patients and patients with neurological disabilities are included in palliative care.

  • In DH KANHANGAD palliative care unit conduct OP on all Tuesday,Thursday,Saturday.

  • There are 3 levels for palliative care.Primary care level,secondary and tertiary care level.

  • Primary care level and secondary care level staffs conduct OPs,Home visits, and giving physiotherapy for deserved patients.

  • Tertiary care level staffs conduct training programs and  In patient care in hospital.

  • In DH KANHANGAD  ‘ TWO’ beds in each ward is allotted for palliative care patients.

  • Palliative care unit in association with Oncology Department used to give palliative Chemotherapy for deserved patients.

  • Palliative Care used to conduct Colostomy Clinic on all Saturdays.

  • Pain clinic for issuing T.Morphine, conducted by palliative care unit is on all Tuesdays.
